Rhys is a talented young lighting professional hailing from Perth, Western Australia. With a remarkable array of design credits under his belt at a young age, he is currently in the final year of his lighting design program at the esteemed Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Rhys's passion for theater and lighting first blossomed during his time at Mazenod College in the Perth Hills.
As Rhys enters the industry, he sets his sights on specific goals that he intends to pursue in the coming years. His unwavering dedication, coupled with a strong work ethic, guides him toward achieving these aspirations. Renowned for his creativity and fervor for his craft, Rhys not only excels as a lighting designer but also shines as a console programmer, allowing him to fully express his artistic attributes. In the future, Rhys aims to work full time as a lighting console programmer while simultaneously developing himself as a lighting designer. His passion for design originates from his early fascination with music, his prowess as a photographer, and his inquisitiveness about modern art. Additionally, Rhys finds inspiration in literature and podcasts, constantly seeking to broaden his understanding of the industry he is poised to enter.
During his leisure time, Rhys immerses himself in learning about the consoles he works with and exploring new lighting products entering the market. His insatiable curiosity drives him to stay abreast of the latest advancements in the industry, knowing that this knowledge will fuel his professional growth. As Rhys eagerly anticipates his upcoming full-time career in the lighting industry, he embraces the prospect of a busy and fulfilling year ahead. Already securing tours and shows both nationally and internationally as a lighting console programmer, he is also dedicated to securing design opportunities to enhance his portfolio. Rhys's unwavering passion for his craft has endowed him with the skills and determination necessary to make his goals a reality.
